Jennifer Illanes (new last name courtesy of her husband) is an artist living in Calgary Alberta Canada. She studied at ACAD (now The Alberta University of the Arts) and received a BFA in sculpture in 2016, along with the  ACAD Board of Governors Graduating Student Award for Sculpture.

Jennifer creates work in the topics of wealth, luxury, feminism and self deprecation, and uses any material necessary to achieve her goals.

What is with the pomegranates? They hold literary, and symbolical  significance from thousands of years ago, making them rich in subject and imagery. From Persephone to the Bible, pomegranates speak of life, spirituality and opulence.

Jennifer Illanes is also a little messed up which has made it's way into her artistic work. She is diagnosed with ASD, Behcet's Disease, IBS, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Chronic Depression and has undergone surgery to fix a herniated disk. Don't be surprised if her work is messed up too.

About the Logo

Jennifer's Logo
"When I was 12 I discovered Lord of the Rings, which I read straight through in one month, and I was delighted with the book, which still inspires me to this day.  One thing that caught my eye was J R R Tolkien's logo which he designed himself. I spent time to design my own logo and I kept the four circles as a salute to Tolkien's logo."
